Maharashtra State Board of SSC and HSC Education, Pune is an autonomous education board recognised under the provisions of Maharashtra Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Boards Act in 1965. The Maharashtra Education Board conducts the HSC and SSC Examinations i.e. Class 12th and Class 10th board examinations in the state. Moreover, the board provides online preparation portal to students of Maharashtra state who will be appearing for entrance exams like Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MH CET), Joint Entrance Exam (JEE for IIT admissions) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

The MSBSHSE has 9 Divisional Boards under it that are located in Pune, Mumbai, Aurangabad, Nasik, Kolhapur, Amravati, Latur, Nagpur and Ratnagiri

More than 14 lakh students for Higher Secondary and around 17 lakh students appear for SSC level of examination
